Modafinil is a non-amphetamine central nervous system stimulant with wakefulness-promoting properties, used to treat excessive sleepiness caused by narcolepsy or shift work sleep disorder and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep during scheduled sleeping hours in people who work at night.
